The organization found a consistent trend that as they reached the end of the calendar year, a large chunk of their employees had not completed the required regulatory compliance trainings, putting the organization at risk.
Upon analysis of the organization’s existing compliance program, it was identified that the lack of completion stemmed from there being too many modules, that the modules took too long to complete, and that they were not engaging enough.
The number of required training modules was reduced from 15 to 5, where certain topics were eliminated or combined into one module. Additional changes included: more engaging graphics, less verbiage on slides, and a shorter time to complete.
This specific module combined two required topics. The opening section of the module incorporated roll-overs, which disguised the wordiness of the topics and allowed the learner to have control over the content they reviewed. Colorful visuals and interactive components were added throughout the module, and a short assessment at the end of the module was added to test the learner’s knowledge.
In addition to revising the learning content, a multi-week “compliance campaign” was developed and launched in the beginning of the year, allowing the organization to achieve its highest-ever reported completion rates by the end of the first quarter.
